Established in 1976, the Rani Meyyammai Hostel was built with the objective to empower young women. The hostel was named after Smt. Rani Meyyammai Aachi, of Chettinad, wife of the philanthropist Padma Bhushan Rajah Sir Dr. M.A. Muthiah Chettiar. Smt Sigapi Ramaswamy, fondly addressed as Achi by everyone, was the Founder Trustee and played a key role in the development of the hostel from it’s inception. . The reins of the hostel have been passed on to Smt. Geetha Muthiah who is the driving force behind the transformation and Modernisation to it’s current form. RMH is a trusted name for young women. The hostel has a selection of rooms, ranging from double rooms, upto 7 in a room. Air conditioned and non air conditioned rooms are available. Students can opt for rooms of their choice based on availability. The rooms are furnished with Comfortable beds, study facilities and ample storage spaces. The hostel offers the residents uncompromising security, and focus’s on providing a safe and hygienic environment. The food offered at the hostel is nutritious and tasty and prepared with care. RMH offers State of the art facilities . The well equipped Gym, the laundromat for individual wash. and lounges for students to interact. A sensory path helps students, enhance physical and mental well-being. The in house student council, appointed by the residents of the hostel also connect frequently with the residents to address their needs. On every floor, large open seating space with natural ventilation for group studies.. Each student is provided a Study desk in the rooms and bed side focus light for those extra hours of reading during late nights without disturbing the other roommates. Free WiFi is also available. Major festivals, are celebrated.
